Orpha E. Owens, 1914-2003, Lincoln

Orpha E. Owens, 89, of Lincoln, died Saturday, Dec. 13, 2003, at Millie's Elder Care, near Otterville.

She was born April 11, 1914, in the Shawnee Bend community near Warsaw, a daughter of William L. and Violet Yeager See. On Aug. 3, 1933, she was married to Willard V. Owens, who died Dec. 22, 1996.

Mrs. Owens attended elementary school in Warsaw and graduated from Lincoln High School in 1932. She was a longtime member of the Lincoln Christian Church. Later, she attended the Lincoln Church of Christ. She enjoyed planting and tending her flowers and was a talented seamstress.

She was at her happiest when her children and grandchildren were visiting.

Surviving are a son, Lloyd Bruce Owens, of Lenexa, Kan.; two daughters, Joyce Kathleen Christian, of Independence, and Dixie See Edwards, of Otterville; a sister, Audrey Dickenson, of Duncanville, Texas; two brothers, Elmo See, of Salem, Ore., and Otis See, of Perryville; two sisters-in-law, Luerena See, of Sedalia, and Glee Wheeler, of Raymore; seven grandchildren, four stepgrandchildren, nine great-grandchildren and five stepgreat-grandchildren.

She was predeceased by a sister, Vera See; and a brother, Vernon Wayne See.

Funeral services will be at 1:30 p.m. Tuesday at the Davis-Miller Funeral Home in Lincoln, with Evangelist Charles Rose officiating. Pallbearers will be Travis Hagedorn, Tony Hagedorn, Bruce Christian, Dan Briant, Chris Watson and Courtney Owens. Burial will be in the Shawnee Cemetery near Warsaw.

The family suggests memorial contributions to the Lincoln Church of Christ, in care of the funeral home.
